His Holiness the 17th Karmapa visits the West
This year, 2011, His Holiness the Karmapa, Orgyen Trinley Dorje, received the Kalachakra Empowerment from His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Washington D.C. This was His Holiness Karmapa’s second visit to the United States. He met officials from the White House and had the opportunity to meet, bless, and share his wisdom with many people: Chinese, American, European, Malaysian, those from Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan, as well as individuals from other countries around the world. His Holiness visited the headquarters of the World Wildlife Fund, and traveled to his North American Seat located in Woodstock, New York at KTD. His Holiness blessed a temple, bestowed an empowerment and gave teachings. Needless to say, everyone was deeply moved. His Holiness Karmapa’s teachings in New York City were coordinated by H.H. the Dalai Lama's Tibet House. Numerous Tibetan refugees as well as others attended those events. His Holiness also made time to see a Buddhist temple in New Jersey as well as Kagyu Thubten Chöling in Wappingers Falls. This visit to the United States provided a wonderful occasion for beings to see the 17th Karmapa and gain access to his wisdom and insight. His Holiness has since returned to his daily routine in India, sharing his kindness and compassion.
His schedule is posted to the Office of the Karmapa's website:http://www.kagyuoffice.org/karmapa.schedule.html
Be aware that there is a possibility that His Holiness may come to the Kagyu Monlam in 2012 in California.
